FAQ

Who should take this program?

Individuals who wish to acquire the tools and skills to educate others on the basics of secondary trauma, empathic strain, and other concepts relevant to helping professionals. Past participants of this program include professionals from healthcare, education, legal fields, policing, military, government agencies, public health, advocacy, animal welfare, and many others.

Is there a prerequisite for enrolling in this program?

Yes. The instructor teaches this program with the assumption that you are familiar with the concepts of empathic strain (also known as compassion fatigue) and secondary traumatic stress.

If these concepts are new to you, not to worry. All participants of the Train the Trainer Program will be given access to our Compassion Fatigue 101 on-demand course. This online course must be completed prior to the live event and is included in your registration fee (If you have already completed this online course, you do not have to re-do the course – however, you are encouraged to review the material).

You will also review the basics of trauma-informed care prior to beginning the Train the Trainer Program. These materials will be made available to you upon receipt of your course fee or non-refundable deposit.

We encourage all participants to set aside 4 hours of protected time prior to the beginning of the program to review the introductory material.

Is there a difference between the in-person and the virtual session?

Both our in-person and online Train the Trainer sessions are great options that contain the same content and learning. You will receive the same resources and support in both versions of this program.

That being said, we always recommend individuals attend the in-person session if possible to experience learning face-to-face and among other helping professionals. It can be easier to connect, ask questions, and share experiences.

What technology do I need to participate in the virtual Q&A?
You will require a reliable internet connection, a microphone, and webcam. Participants will also need to be comfortable using the online program Dropbox to access materials for this program.
I am unable to attend the Q&A portion of the training. Will the sessions be recorded?
All virtual sessions are recorded and can be viewed on your own schedule. Participants will be responsible for reviewing any missed materials throughout the course. Both of the virtual Q&As sessions for in-person training will be recorded and can be viewed on your own schedule. Note that live in-person sessions are not recorded.
